Y-CAP is an early intervention and prevention program for youth ages 10-15 who have been referred to us either through the juvenile court system or the school system. Each student and their family has a personalized treatment plan which addresses their educational, behavioral, and spiritual needs, including mentoring, tutoring, hot meals, family nights and group therapy.
Y-CAP OUTCOMES
Noticeably improved behavior at school and home, fewer juvenile court appearances, academic improvements and more.
Y-CAP BOXING
The Chattanooga YMCA Y-CAP Boxing Club is for youth in the afterschool program, as well as youth and adults who want to learn how to box, either for exercise or competition. Chattanooga Y-CAP Boxing Club has produced dozens of national and world championship titles, 14 Golden Glove titles, three professional boxers, and one team manager for the 2008 Olympic Games.
Boxing is also available to youth in the Y-CAP Cleveland and Y-CAP East programs, using the new boxing rings at Y-CAP Cleveland.
Participation in boxing teaches discipline, self-control, coordination, and team work.
